FRIDAY FIVE #4

Happy Friday! Writing this to you on Thursday afternoon, and part of me feels like it’s already Friday, haha! It has felt like a long week, and I guess I’m ready for some rest. Side note, I totally realize it’s halloween, and I know I’ll get some haters on this one, but I’m not a fan of halloween. Maybe it’s because I didn’t grow up with it (I grew up in Moscow, Russia and they didn’t celebrate Halloween), or because I don’t like scary things, so ghosts, vampires, and spiders are not my thing. Anyways, I will enjoy some candy today because why not, but in reality I enjoy candy all year round!

Now onto a round of Friday Five!

MY NEW FAVORITE MUG

I am a sucker for cute mugs, and I totally fell for this one! My business coach showed it to me, and I knew I needed it. I love this reminder that “Actually, I can” for those times I feel discouraged, which happens a lot as a new business owner. Any bit of encouragement and affirmation helps! FYI, you can grab this mug at Target for $5!

SOCIAL MEDIA FREE WEEKENDS

In an effort to reduce stress in my life, I’ve decided to take a break from Instagram over the weekend and not work (which is really hard to do when you work for yourself). It wasn’t an easy decision – a lot of anxieties came up, like what if I miss something or I lose engagement, but I thought I’d give it a shot. Last weekend was the first weekend I tried this, and it was amazing. I have to say it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. I was on my phone a lot less and those times I normally would have scrolled Instagram, I was able to do other things (which did take some creativity). Overall, I felt more grounded and refreshed when I got back to work on Monday. I’m definitely going to keep this up!

MOVEMENT LATELY

Recently, I’ve really been enjoying walks for movement and I’m so thankful I can go on walks! Let me back up a bit… earlier this summer I was diagnosed with sesamoiditis (inflammation of the sesamoid bone in the foot) which kept me from walking, yoga, and pretty much any activity on my feet. I’ve worked with a PT and now chiropractor and I’m feeling so much better, so I decided to try walking again. So far so good (not perfect, but I’m happy for now)! I love getting fresh air, sunshine, and the meditative practice of walking.

Side note, 7 years ago I never would have considered walking as “enough” exercise. I had strict guidelines for what counted as exercise (pretty much only high-intensity cardio) and I had to exercise a certain number of times a week. However, after a significant knee injury and chronic pain, I’ve learned to trust my body and appreciate exercise in a different way. Now my goal is just to get some type of movement in most days, and I can say I don’t dread exercise at all!

THIS WORKBOOK

For most of my life, I struggled to trust myself – my body, dreams, ideas, worth, personality, etc. and it wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I knew something needed to change. For me, it started with healing my relationship with food and letting go of fear around food, then the hard work of healing my relationship with myself. It’s been a long journey and while I’m still not perfect, I trust myself so much more than I ever have. This week, I launched the Trust Yourself + Live Life Fully Workbook outlining the exact steps I took (and still take) to build self-trust. You can grab yours for FREE here!

PLANNING

Blake and I haven’t taken a vacation for a while, so we decided to go on a little trip Up North (aka Duluth) right before Thanksgiving. We will actually be staying at the inn we stayed at for our honeymoon. I’m so excited to get away, slow down, and just be together. No big plans yet, except going to our favorite restaurant up there, New Scenic Cafe!
